Tutorial – Form Builder (Add, Update, Delete)
webNetwork 5.4 introduces the new Form Builder. This application allows forms to be created in an environment similar to Report Builder.
Combining forms with reports allows mini applications to built, secured and deployed in the webNetwork environment.
This tutorial walks through the process necessary to create a form that allows the user to add new customers, update existing customers and delete existing customers. A report is designed to display the customer list, and to provide the links to the various modes of the form.
Tutorial – Adding Row Numbers to Reports
When designing HTML reports in Report Builder, it is often necessary to display the row number. The @@rownumber@@ variable can be used in the detail section to display a 1 for the first row, a 2 for the second row, etc.
This variable is also commonly used in scripting blocks (JavaScript, VBScript, etc.) to make decisions based on the row number.
This tutorial demonstrates how the @@rownumber@@ variable can be used.
Develop for the iPhone/iPod Touch
Developing for the iPhone/iPod Touch has never been easier. Using Report Builder, Form Builder, and the mobile features of webNetwork, applications can be quickly developed, secured and deployed. Examples of this are shown in the following movie. The movie is about 6 mb in size, so please be patient while it downloads.
The webOS app shown in the 2nd half of the movie is available for download on the Apple AppStore. It requires webNetwork 5.4 or greater.
Tutorial – Creating A Calendar Layout
A Calendar Layout can be used to arrange data into a calendar format. Report Builder allows you to design the query to pull the data in a way that only the data that is to be displayed is returned from the database. For example, when displaying the month of March 2009 in a calendar format, the actual dates to be displayed should be March 1, 2009 to April 4, 2009.
The calendar layout allows a user to start at a given date, and then scroll through months in either direction to view applicable data.
In this tutorial, a database table is queried in order to create a company events calendar.
